Heather Goodworth is a senior fellow with the Madison Liberty Institute.
Heather began her political career on the more “liberal” side of the fence. Entrusted at the age of twenty-seven with teaching a wide range of courses at Idaho State University’s College of Nursing (then School of Nursing), she was fresh out of graduate school and eager to share the “truths” she had been taught. Three years later, Heather found herself leaving academia to homeschool her children.
She was led to associate with other homeschooling families who gently, but firmly challenged her political views. She began asking questions, reading source documents (instead of academic interpretations) and gained a growing, and horrifying realization that the “truth” she had valued and propagated so dearly was far from true. As such, her commitment to informed political and policy activism was set.
Her unique perspective and educational background qualify her to advocate strongly for a wide range of social policy issues. However, issues related to traditional family values and religious liberties are at the top of her list.
Heather currently serves as the Madison Liberty Institute’s project lead for the Protect Idaho Families Coalition.
