Should the state of Idaho view playtime as a crime?
Parents can be prosecuted for negligence, or have child welfare services intervene, if they allow their children the reasonable independence to partake in various activities without parental supervision—walking to the store, playing at a park, etc.
Free-Range parenting used to simply be called parenting. This bill makes sure the law protects the same reasonable independence most of us experienced as children.
Importantly, this bill does not prevent actual negligence from being prosecuted.
It simply makes sure that safe behavior is not treated as bad parenting.
