Will you wake up under a strict mask mandate tomorrow morning? If you live in Rexburg you just might.
This evening, November 18, 2020, at 6:30 pm, the Rexburg City Council will vote on an ordinance (Ordinance 1243) calling for a new city-wide mask mandate, which would also require businesses to enforce the mandate. Violators (individuals) would be fined between $100-$300 for the first two offenses, and charged with a misdemeanor for any additional offense(s). Businesses in violation would receive the same penalty for the first two offenses and would be closed down for additional offenses.
If you would like to share your opinion on the proposed ordinance there are a few options to make your voice heard:
- Email the Rexburg City Council before 5:30 tonight at the following email address: email@example.com.
- Call the Rexburg City Council before 5:30 tonight at 208-359-3020 to voice your concerns.
- Local residents opposed to the proposed ordinance have organized an in-person protest to take place at the Rexburg City Hall at 5:30 pm. (For more information, visit the following event page on Facebook.)
Since there is limited seating available at tonight’s council meeting, Rexburg is encouraging members of the public to watch via the City Council’s live broadcast, which you can access at this link.
Rexburg needs every citizen to participate in some way so that the voice of the people is heard. Our freedom and individual rights are at stake otherwise.
