Were there injustices inherent in the original Constitution? How were they fixed? The principle of the American system is this: laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind, and our ideas of justice improve with maturity. America is a work in progress, so, let us ever, in the words of Madison, pursue justice until we obtain liberty and justice for all.
