House Bill 206: Young Adult Concealed Carry

On February 26, 2019, State Representatives Christy Zito (R-Hammett) and Julianne Young (R-Blackfoot) introduced House Bill 206 (H0206), which amends section 18-3302(4) of the Idaho Code to allow young adults (18-21) to conceal carry inside city limits.

Currently, under section 18-3302, Idaho Code, “permitless carry is already legal outside of city limits for individuals 18 or older, and open carry is currently legal within city limits.” According to the definition, permitless carry, also known as constitutional carry, is the “legal carrying of a handgun, either openly or concealed, without a license or permit.” This proposed legislation simply adjusts the current law to include city limits for Idahoans 18 to 21 years old.

House Bill 206 passed the Idaho House on March 14, 2019, with a vote of 53-14-3. The measure now awaits action in the Senate State Affairs Committee.
