On March 4, 2019, State Representative John Vander Woude (R-Nampa) introduced House Bill 228 (H0228), which provides review and recommendation directives regarding Medicaid expansion. The purpose of H0228 is to gather more information about Medicaid recipients in order to determine their eligibility more accurately. This bill would add questions about substance abuse, work eligibilities and health specificities. H0228 also directs the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare to be proactive in seeking and implementing waivers. House Bill 228 does have a fiscal note that includes federal funding.

H0228 was referred to the House Health and Welfare Committee on March 5, 2019.
