Idaho House Passes Notice of Immunization Exemptions Bill

On February 25, 2019, the Idaho House of Representatives voted to pass House Bill 133 (H0133) with a vote of 52-17-1. Introduced by State Representative Priscilla Giddings (R-White Bird), H0133 seeks to amend section 39-1118, Idaho Code.

The change would make it a requirement for daycare facilities and schools to notify parents there is an immunization “opt-out” option. Simply put, anytime a parent or guardian is informed of the requirements for immunization, exemption information must also be given. According to the bill’s fiscal note, since this is simply an addition to current informative processes, there would be little to no additional fiscal impact.

Received by the State Senate on February 26, 2019, House Bill 133 awaits action in the Senate Health and Welfare Committee.
