First Freedoms
Freedom of conscience is a fundamental human right and not only requires our freedom to believe what we choose, but to also put those beliefs into practice. In the same way that the right to private property activates our other unalienable rights, the right to talk openly about and act on our beliefs secures all other rights of conscience.
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”
First Amendment, Bill of Rights, U.S. Constitution
Freedom of conscience is the right to be exposed to many different ideas, to align ourselves with the beliefs we consider the most sound, and then to act on these ideas and align our lives with these beliefs accordingly.
All men and women should be guaranteed the right to express their beliefs openly without fear of state-sponsored persecution or harm from others. We support the right of parents to teach their children what to believe and for churches to be protected from inappropriate legal restrictions which would infringe on their rights to preach, organize, and disseminate religious information.

The Weaknesses of the Articles
George Washington, the man who went through Valley Forge, called the period under the Articles the worst time in America’s history. Why did these fail?
